OVER 100 jobs are expected to be created within the next 12 months at Lakeland Community Care Centre, Belcoo.
Lakeland Community Care (LCC) has recently been awarded a major contract for the next three to five years with the Western Health and Social Care Trust and will provide domiciliary care in the wider area of Fermanagh and also include the Omagh area.
The expansion will safeguard local jobs and create new opportunities across the area where it is anticipated that the Lakeland Community Care’s workforce will increase from 180 to 300 full and part-time staff over the next 12 months.
Pat McGurn, chief executive of Lakeland Community Care stated, “This expansion would not be possible without the commitment of our voluntary board, staff and carers in the community. We are only as good as the people who work for us. It is a major show of confidence in the abilities of Lakeland Community Care employing local people to buy into the ethos of caring for our elderly people with dignity and respect.”
The charity which was founded in 1993 originally provided day care services in Belcoo, Garrison, Derrygonnelly, and Teemore and in more recent years Newtownbutler.
In the last 20 years the charity has become one of the largest providers of domiciliary care in the Western Health and Social Care Trust and is at the forefront of delivering high quality services to the local communities.
This granted Lakeland Community Care the opportunity to open their healthy living centre in February 2015 which now caters for a wide range of activities including IT, befriending, Men’s Shed, older peoples groups, parent and toddler group, exercise programmes and more.
The voluntary board and management of Lakeland Community Care welcomed First Minister Arlene Foster to their new state of the art healthy living centre in Belcoo to announce the major expansion.
First Minister Arlene Foster said: “The team at Lakeland Community Care play a huge role across Fermanagh and we are indebted to their work, drive and commitment. It was a pleasure to visit their new facilities in Belcoo and I have no doubt that this asset will be utilised to provide much needed support to the older people in our society.”
