SIX schools in Fermanagh are set to benefit from over £720,000 investment under the Department of Education’s minor works scheme.
Minor works are projects less than £500,000 and range from minor improvements to more significant projects and extensions.
The biggest investment is at Enniskillen Royal Grammar School which was has secured £580,869 funding for a new modular toilet and changing facilities, refurbishment of existing facilities including additional lockers and conversion of music classroom to general classroom.
Funding of £11,000 has been approved for the conversion of ICT room to general classroom at Moat Primary School, Lisnaskea while £3,500 was granted for works to refurbish a resource area at Maguiresbridge Primary School. Enniskillen Integrated Primary School will benefit from approved funding of £112,750 for additional modular classroom and £4,500 is going towards access control and bin compound to Tattygar Primary School in Lisbellaw. St Paul’s Primary School, Irvinestown has benefited from funding of £7,500 for security fence and ramps.
Enniskillen Royal Grammar School has been awarded over £500,000 and the funding will be used to increase the facilities at the newly amalgamated grammar school. Principal Elizabeth Armstrong is looking forward to getting the necessary work completed and improve on-site facilities.
“The work will be starting very soon because it is very important work to cope with the volume of students that now attend the school due to the emulumation. We will be increasing the number of toilets on-site for students.”
