Cancer Connect are seeking volunteers

Cancer Connect NI is seeking young volunteers to join their team in Enniskillen.

Anyone aged between 14 and 25 who currently volunteers or who would like to start and would like to have their commitment, skills and experience recognised have been urged to contact the charity.

Cancer Connect NI offers volunteering opportunities at popular local events such as the magical
winter wonderland, annual vintage coffee morning as well as garden projects, research studies,
educational visits and fundraising.

The charity’s current young volunteers have recently had their hard work recognised at the Millennium Volunteers Awards of Excellence Ceremony in the Guildhall, Derry. A group of Cancer Connect volunteers were rewarded for their 200 hours of service to charity with certificates.

Now the charity is urging more young people to get involved. Enniskillen’s Chris Carney has been volunteering for Cancer Connect for a number of years and believes all young people who can, should get involved.

“I got involved about five years ago when someone close to me introduced me to the Cancer Connect team and they showed me the support they could offer family and friends of those who had been diagnosed. They welcomed me with open arms when I said I wanted to volunteer with the charity.

“Young people should get involved with Cancer Connect because it is actually the most fun you will have. I have seen what the young volunteers can do to help within the charity but we do need more volunteers to help. Seeing what our events does for people who have been impacted by cancer is a reward for our hard work.”

In addition to the youth volunteer programme, Cancer Connect NI welcomes volunteers of all ages and would extend an invitation to anyone interested to drop into the centre at 3 Forthill Road, Enniskillen between 10am and 3pm, Monday to Friday or call  028 66340102 or email  info@cancerconnectni.org. Cancer Connect can also be contacted on the CCNI Facebook.
