THE Oisin McGrath Foundation is looking forward to its second annual Run for Oisin. The 5k and 10k walk, jog or run will take place this Sunday, October 16th at 1pm in Belcoo.
Similar to last year, the event promises to be a fun filled event for recreational runners and walkers as well as a challenging and rewarding experience for seasoned athletes.
Over 1,000 people took part in the event last year, and Siobhan McGrath is hoping for the same again this year.
“We are hoping for another successful event this year with as many people as possible returning to Run for Oisin and to remember him.
“We are forever grateful for the support we have received and could never have anticipated the response last year. It was a huge family and community event with over 1200 participants and we welcome everyone back again. Life without Oisin will never be the same for us and the Oisin McGrath Foundation and events like the Run for Oisin, is our way of keeping his spirit alive and trying to live with the Oisin shaped hole forever in our hearts.”
The 10k is open to runners aged 16 years or over, costing £12 while the 5k and is open to both adults and kids, but children U11 must be accompanied by an adult.
The event is licensed by Athletics NI, chip-timed and professionally measured.  The starting point is the Cottage Meadow in Belcoo, where the mass warm up will be led by Dylan Quinn Dance Zumba and Damian McHugh as DJ. Refreshments and prize giving will take place in the Community Centre at the finish line.
