A ROSLEA woman shouted at, scraped and swung at police officers who called to her home to arrest her partner, a court has heard.

On November 11 police were arresting at an address in Roslea when his partner, West, became irate. West told the officers to “watch my f**king dog” and began shouting at the officers so loudly she could be heard at the rear of the property.

West then got in the way of the police and her partner, struggling with them, then grabbed and scraped one of the officers. When they attempted to arrest her at approximately 1am she tried to pull away and swung out, narrowly missing the face of one of the officers. West again was shouting at the officers, stating “my dog better not f**king get out.”

When arrested and cautioned West asked “when did I once attack any of you” and said the officers were lying.

Defence barrister Ciaran Roddy said West now “unequivocally accepts her guilt” and pointed out she had entered an early guilty plea. He explained she had become irate and the arrest of her partner and had felt her privacy had been compromised as the police had entered her property without informing her.

Mr Roddy said the incident had been short lived and West, who had no relevant previous convictions, had calmed down quite quickly.

Deputy District Judge Anne Marshall sentenced West to 18 months probation, on the condition she engages with any programme or piece of work recommended by probation services, such as anger management. Judge Marshall warned West if she failed to do so she would be brought back before the court to face further sentencing.
