PANCAKE Tuesday, or Shrove Tuesday, is the traditional feast day before the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday.

It has been said that the traditional main ingredients for pancakes can be seen to symbolise four points of significance at this time of year:

1. Eggs – Creation
2. Flour – The staff of life
3. Salt – Wholesomeness
4. Milk – Purity
