The High Court has refused a legal challenge over the merger of Portora Royal School and Enniskillen Collegiate.
In 2014 Education Minister John O’Dowd announced plans to close the two schools to make way for the establishment of a new voluntary grammar school, recently named as the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School.
Since the Minister’s decision the Collegiate has voiced their opposition to the move and in May 2015 announced that judicial review proceedings had been lodged on behalf of a pupil at the school to overturn Mr O’Dowd’s decision to press ahead with the merger.
The decision date coincides with the open evening for the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School to be held tonight on both sites.
Prospective students will visit both the Portora and Collegiate site within three hours between 6pm and 9pm.
