SEVEN members of the same extended family have appeared in court on separate charges relating to a feud.

Brothers Martin Crumlish (26) and Hugh Crumlish (22), with an address at Coolcullen Meadow in Enniskillen, Patrick Crumlish (55), with an address at Main Street, Belcoo, as well as a youth who cannot be named, appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday charged with possession of an offensive weapon, a pick axe handle, and possession bladed/pointed articles, namely a sword, knife and two slash hooks, at Coolcullen Meadow, Enniskillen on November 9.

At their brief hearing at Monday’s court they were each released on their own bail of £500, ordered not to enter Oakfield Court in Enniskillen or be on the Old Tempo Road, and to have no contact with either Sylvester Crumlish (19) or Patrick Crumlish (27).

The court was told there were multiple men with the names Sylvester and Patrick Crumlish within the extended family, including a brother of the accused named Sylvester. As such, District Judge Nigel Broderick ordered dates of birth be included on the bail conditions.

Meanwhile, Patrick Crumlish (27), Sylvester Crumlish (19), and his father Sylvester Crumlish Snr (60), who all have an address at Oakfield Court, Enniskillen also appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday in relation to incidents arising out of what the court was told was a family feud. Having previously been released on bail with the condition they do not enter Enniskillen, as determined by the 30mph zone the men applied to the court to have the bail condition relaxed to allow them into the town boundaries.

The men are charged with a range of offences relating to incidents on September 9 and November 9 this year, including aggravated burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, threats to kill Mary Crumlish, riotous behaviour, possession of an offensive weapon, assault, and criminal damage of a car belonging to Bridget Crumlish.

A police officer, who was objecting to any change to the men’s bail conditions, told the court that on September 9 three men reportedly entered a home at Coolcullen Meadow and threatened the occupant. Also on that date, Patrick and Sylvester allegedly chased 18-year-old Mary Crumlish up the Sligo Road, with a sword and wheel brace with them. On November 9, the men are accused of attacking Martin and Hugh Crumlish as they sat in their car waiting at traffic lights at Castle Street on to the Wellington Road.

Judge Broderick said the bail hearing was not a trial and he could not rule on the issue of credibility, just the men’s bail conditions and unless there was “some startling difference” in the men’s circumstances he could not amend the bail conditions. Judge Broderick refused the application, stating he felt the conditions were necessary to prevent any re-offending.
