The 22-year-old advertised the service online and through the Fermanagh Herald and after receiving a favourable response in the local community got to work on dinner late on Christmas Eve.

“It was a right bit of work,”  she explained. “I was working Christmas Eve night so I came home Christmas Eve night and then I stayed up  a lot of the night and then up early the next morning. It was worth it though and I think a lot of the people were very glad to have the company.”

She continued: “I visited 11 people in total, six of whom I brought dinners. An awful lot of them I just called for ceilidhing and stuff and I brought biscuits.  I gave  them a selection of different shloers things like that. It was great. It was stressful, but it was worth it.”

The Derrylin girl admitted the experience has given her a “Christmas buzz” and plans to maintain the special connections made on Christmas Day.

“All of the people that I visited this year are going to be people I visit every year, even if I wasn’t fit some years to run the advertisement I definitely will continue to visit whoever I met this year.”

She added: “It was lovely just to sit down with people and chat and find out how they came about and whether  they’re new to the area or living in the area the whole time. I think it’s been a long time since they would have had that. It was sad to say goodbye , but you just saw the appreciation they had as you were leaving, they were really thankful.”
