Two goals in three minutes in the first half were enough to give Portadown full points this afternoon at Ferney Park.
The visitors opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 23 minutes when full back Chris Crilly was adjudged to have handled after a melee in the six yard box following a corner.
Full back Chris Casement made no mistake from the spot kick.
Two minutes later Ballinamallard had a glorious opportunity to draw level when Currie, Lafferty and Crilly were involved in a great move which saw the ball played to Jason McCartney on the corner of the penalty spot. With time and space he fluffed his shot and Portadown broke down the left flank.
Stafford looked to have the ball covered, but Twigg somehow broke past him and cut in along the byline before finishing past McCusker.
