THE DEVENISH Bar in Enniskillen has been shortlisted for a Pubs of Ulster award for 2014.
The bar, based on Darling Street, has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Big Idea’ category for its involvement in the Fermanagh Cup angling competition.
Held in September, the bar put up the prize fund for the competition and entertained anglers from all over.
It has already put up the prize fund for next year which, they say, will make it the biggest competition of its kind in Ireland.
Manager John Fitzpatrick explained: “The nomination is for the Fermanagh Cup which is the angling competition held in September organised between ourselves and Mark Silman, an angler from Sheffield. We put a prize fun and they came and eat drank with us for the week and we had live entertainment for them.”
He added: “It benefited not just ourselves but the rest of the town. It’s great to be nominated for any award and we’re really looking forward to the awards ceremony and think we’ve a good chance.”
Winners of the ten award categories – including the much sought after Pub of the Year title – will be revealed at a gala awards night on Wednesday November 12.
