Ballinamallard Youth defender Matthew Smyth has been named in the IFA’s Elite Programme.
It is hoped the proramme will lead Smyth into the European Championships programme under-17s.
The Elite programme will require players to train thre times a week when they will receive technical and tactical coaching.
They will also benefit from the IFA’s partnership with the University of Ulster as coaches from the University’s Sports Department will devise and monitor a conditioning programme for each age group to enhance the physical preparation and development of the young players.
The Elite Programme will run from February to November on a 36 week Programme split into 12 week blocks.
