TWO of Fermanagh’s country singers, both currently on tour, have new material on the horizon. Pettigo’s Paul Kelly has just released an original song entitled ‘The Hangover’, which was written by himself and his manager Andy Cox.
And, Belcoo’s Seany Mac is preparing to release his single ‘Jive’.
Paul explained: “The lyrics are all about a man waking up with a hangover, having no money. Then he takes his best bull calf and sells it to buy alcohol. The wife begins ringing him when he is in the pub telling him ‘if you don’t come home shortly you will be living on your own’ she is nagging him but he ends up doing the same thing the next day!”
Paul has also done a video for the song – which went online last week.
“The song was recorded by Jonathan Owens (spout studios) Longford with some of the top musicians in Ireland playing on it. We are really happy with the song.”
And, Seany Mac is also excited about his latest release.
“This new single is called ‘Jive’ – it’s a song written about the time that we’re now at the minute – the young ones going to dancing, and the crowd that are going to the dances,” he explained.
“It’ll be ready in the next day or two and then we’ll get them posted out. So we’ll have it out publicly in the next week or two.”
Having launched his band last year, Seany is looking ahead to the next 12 months.
“It’ll be about capitalising on late last year. There’s some big news to come – there are tours being organised.”
And, there’s an album in the pipeline.
“This single and the last few singles are off what will be an album later down the line. It’s an album that there’ll be a lot of original songs and a few covers too. It’ll be an album for the dancing scene. We’re currently working on the recording of it.”
You can catch Seany next on February 21 in the Allingham Arms.
