BELCOO and Fermanagh’s number one darts hero, Brendan Dolan takes on the world championships today, Sunday, 15th December, and his many fans will be glued into Sky at around 9/9.30pm to urge him on.
His brother, John Joe shares their delight that Brendan is now ranked at number 13 in the world rankings, two placings above last year’s standing.
“He’s showing good form at the moment. In his most recent event, the Minehaven Players Championship, he competed on day one and day two.
“On Day One, he had a remarkable win over Wayne Jones for the last 32 where he went 1-3 down before coming back to 4-3, and the match ended up at 5-all. It went to sudden death, with Wayne hitting a tonne to leave himself on 36, but Brendan cleared the board on 126, 19, treble 19 and bull.”
Brendan then met Andy Hamilton, ‘The Hammer’, the world number 8 in the second round, but he left his accuracy back in Belcoo, missing 19 shots at a double out of 22, losing out despite recording the exact same score as Hamilton.
Hopefully, his form and accuracy will kick in on Sunday to ease him into the next round on Sunday week, 22nd December when, if he qualifies, he can be seen at 12.30.
