READY TO GO… Seany Mac
“I’M JUST really looking forward to it, I’m excited,” Seany Mac told the Fermanagh Herald this week.
The Belcoo-born 20 year-old is launching his new five-piece band in the next couple of weeks.
The new band, that features Liam McGinty, Donn Woods, PJ Donohue, Aaron Kerrigan and Tony Fitzgibbon.
The Seany Mac band will kick off what could prove a fascinating last two months of the year in early November and their itinerary will take them to numerous leading ballrooms including the Allingham Arms Hotel, Bundoran; The Hazel Tree, Mallow; the Ryandale Moy, the Mellon Country Hotel Omagh and the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan.
And, Seany’s band is also launches a new series of dances at the Westville Hotel in Enniskillen, with a show on Monday, November 11.
“We’ve had intense rehearsals over the past month, we’d do maybe three days a week – all day,” Seany continued.
“I’m very fortunate to have very professional and experience guys in the band. I suppose our aim is to be a good dance band, to get people dancing. We’ll be performing a lot of Irish country and a wee touch of American in there as well.”
With dates leading into February of next year already booked, Seany will be visiting places that he has not performed in before.
“There are places there that I’ve not been to before and it’s going to be a busy few months.
“We’re all over Ireland and we’ve plans next year to go further afield.
“Even before our first show, there’s been a huge response. A lot of people are looking forward to our debut dance.”
And, he can’t wait to get perform in his home county, in the first of a series of dances at the Westville Hotel.
“It’s the debut Fermanagh gig, the first gig at home – and we’re delighted to have it in the Westville and to be the first band to open the Westville big band dancing nights.”
