“There’s an endless amount of money for Roads Service and Fermanagh Council to spend around the town, why is Hillview left out?”
That is the message of one long term resident, who is outraged at the state of the estate’s walkway and play park, which has not seen any of thousands of pounds designated for improvements in the county.
“A lovely walk around the lough and play park is ruined by mucky paths, broken glass, broken fences and hand rails. The play park must be the worst in Fermanagh. There seems to be plenty of money for all other estates, but not Hillview.”
He continued: “It is a waste. The play park, the whole way along is in terrible shape. The hand rails close to the play park have been destroyed and pulled apart.”
“A contractor came in and cut back all the bushes and it has just shown how bad it is. People are drinking around it and the area really does not look well.”
The resident, who did not wish to be named also highlighted the fact that there were also currently no signs pointing to the location of Hillview in Enniskillen.
“Fancy stones show the way into other estates, but Hillview hasn’t even a sign. No sign from the Irvinestown Road and no sign from the Cornagrade Road.
“You see all around Enniskillen, these lovely new roads and the big clean up going on, why is Hillview seeing none of it?”
Through the paper the resident appeals to Fermanagh District Council to use some of the money designated for sprucing up the town to help clean up the once beautiful area, which has fallen into a state of disrepair.
“Please tidy up this beautiful estate again,” he added.
