The fire service are currently attending a gorse fire

Seven fire appliances and approximately 45 personnel have dealt with a large gorse fire that took place at Tullyvogy Road, Belleek.

A spokesperson said on Monday: “The initial call was received at 1.58pm today (Monday 8 April).  The incident is ongoing and we are being assisted by our partners in Northern Ireland Forest Service.

“The incident involves forest and gorse on fire over three squared kilometres of land, and the fire is being fanned by high winds. The fire front involved is approximately 2,000 metres.”

On Saturday last, a gorse fire that was deliberately started on Topped Mountain, extended to 1,000 metres across and kept 40 fire fighters pinned down for four hours.
