BRAKING news, the Honda CBX 1000 European Rally is coming back to Fermanagh.
The annual rally has been taking place for 32 years with bikers from all over the world following it, and the last time it was in Fermanagh was in 2015 when 124 six cylinder Hondas made their way through the county.
“The CBX was launched in 1978. They came out with a CBX Z and then brought out the pro link which they continued into the 80’s and they are a big collectors item now. Some of these bikes will be like they came out of the factory because there is big awards for the best bike and specials,” explained event organiser’s Rickie White and Ray Inskipp.
This year, around 100 CBX riders are coming from all over Europe with one enthusiast even coming as far as Japan.
The weekend tour starts on Thursday, August 15 with a ride out and tour on the Kestral before going to the Linnet Inn in Boho.
On Friday the police outriders are providing an escort to Lough Navar Forest viewpoint, where they will ride around the lough before visiting Belleek Pottery.
Saturday sees a 116 mile ride out planned from Ballinamallard FC clubhouse at 11am through Enniskillen, Belcoo, Blacklion, Manorhamilton, Glenncar Waterfall and Mullaghmore.
The weekend will be full of entertainment with The Panthers Rock ‘n Roll band from Sunderland and Murley Silver Band both playing music for the bikers.
The event will also consist of awards for the best bike, ballot prizes, goodie bag containing CBX memorabilia and lots of food supplied by JD cafe.
“Ballinamallard Football Club has given us the use of its facilities to host the event,” said Rickie.
“The last time the event was here it was a huge success and we have put a lot of work put in to organise this year, Ray Inskipp has done all the computer and design things and Ian Foster from Hong Kong made the flags and shipped them over.” he said.
The bike filled weekend will run from August 15 to 18 at Ballinamallard FC grounds with plenty of prize bikes on show for the public to view.
