Local band to perform at Paris Olympic Games

A FERMANAGH band has said they ”can’t wait” to step on board the plane to Paris as they prepare to headline a major concert in the French capital at the much-anticipated Olympic Games.
With rowers Ross Corrigan and Nathan Timoney, rugby star Claire Boles, Ballyconnell golfer Leona Maguire and Chef de Mission Gavin Noble all part of Team Ireland, there’ll be plenty of local flavour in Paris.
The Tumbling Paddies, who are one of Ireland’s top music bands, are going to be performing in Paris at the Olympic Games for three days, from Tuesday to Thursday next week.
“We are delighted that we will be celebrating all things Irish at this year’s Olympics in Paris,” ‘The Tumbling Paddies’ band member, John McCann, told the Herald.
“We will be performing live at the Team Ireland Supporters House at ‘O’Sullivan’s by the Mill’ right next door to the Moulin Rouge. Can’t wait to see you there.”
Excitement is building in Fermanagh ahead of the Paris Olympic Games which will see a number of local athletes bid for glory as part of their 133-member strong Team Ireland.
All eyes will be on local rowing duo, Ross Corrigan and Nathan Timoney, who are set to compete in the ‘Men’s Pair’ event at the Paris Olympic Games.
Carrybridge rugby player Claire Boles has been named as a ‘travelling reserve’ for the Ireland Women’s Sevens squad, with Ballyconnell golfer Leona Maguire also confirmed in Team Ireland.
Enniskillen man Gavin Noble has been tasked with leading Team Ireland at the Paris Olympic Games, in the hugely distinguished role of Chef de Mission at the major sporting extravaganza.
In the build-up to the Paris Games, a long-serving employee at Ulster Bank in Enniskillen, Shirley Thompson, carried the Olympic baton around the North as part of a major fundraiser for non-profit organisations.
