ENNISKILLEN Gaels ruled supreme in a much-anticipated top-of-the-table Westville Hotel Senior Football League Division One game against Derrygonnelly Harps at Brewster Park last night.
Due to Fermanagh’s involvement in the Tailteann Cup, the first round of league fixtures were postponed, with games taking place across the county last night (Tuesday).
In Brewster Park, Simon Bradley’s Enniskillen Gaels inflicted a heavy 22-point defeat on Derrygonnelly Harps, who were missing a number of key players for the refixed game.
The game was over as a contest by half-time, with the home side leading by 13-points at the interval, 3-09 to 0-05, with Ethan Beresford, Conall Quinn and Jack Tierney netting for the Gaels.
With five games played in the Westville Hotel Senior Football League Division One, Enniskillen and Derrygonnelly are level on 11 points, with both teams eyeing a place in the league final.
Elsewhere, Kinawley closed the gap on to the front-runners in third place with a comprehensive 2-13 to 1-07 victory over Derrylin in a local derby clash, played in Patrick McManus Park.
Also in Division One, Devenish defeated Ederney, Belnaleck proved too strong for Belcoo and Erne Gaels moved up to fourth place in the table with a six-point win over Roslea.
Over in the Crust and Crumb Senior Football League Division Two, it’s tight at the top of the table with Irvinestown leading the way on 11 points, with five matches played.
The St Molaise men picked up their fourth win from five games with a major 3-17 to 0-08 win over Newtownbutler.
After a 3-22 to 2-04 thumping over Brookeborough, Tempo sit second in the Division Two table, just one point behind league leaders Irvinestown.
Teemore edged out a hard-fought victory over Lisnaskea last night. There was also wins for St Patrick’s Donagh and Aghadrumsee St Macartan’s in the refixed games.
