POLICE in Fermanagh have arrested a driver they said was speeding past a local primary school as the children were coming out, while also “heavily” under the influence of alcohol.
In a statement posted yesterday (Tuesday, June 25), Fermanagh and Omagh PSNI said the arrest had made our local roads that bit safer.
“Enniskillen Road Policing unit definitely made the roads safer in Florencecourt today,” said the spokesperson.
“Whilst parents were collecting their children from the primary school this afternoon, the team were conducting a speed operation outside the primary school when they detected a driver who was speeding, whilst heavily under the influence of alcohol and with defective tyres.
“Needless to say he is presently in police custody and we are thankful he did not get the opportunity to cause any harm on our roads.”
