TWO LANDMARK properties in Enniskillen are up for sale for a collective £400,000.
The Railway Hotel, and the former Ritz Cinema building on Forthill Street have been put on the market and are already attracting significant interest.
The hotel has been in existence for 130 years, according to its website, while the cinema, opened in 1954, closed in 1992.
The shell of the old cinema still cuts a striking image from the roadside. A residential property at the back of the old cinema is also part of the sale.
From the hotel perspective, it has 20 ensuite bedrooms, a bar, restaurant and function room.
Estate agent Seamus McGovern told the Fermanagh Herald: “The location obviously is excellent and you have the adjoining old Ritz cinema. There’s a right bit of interest already and I’d expect that there would be.
He went on: “It’s a landmark site and a well-known property. It’s a very prominent property and very close to the town centre.”
The Enniskillen estate agent said that there has been heavy interest so far – both from those looking to develop the property, and from those within the hotel sector.
The Ritz cinema is listed back in 1980 as having a stage and capacity of 700. It closed in 1992 and has remained in a virtually dormant state since.
Minor alterations to the front of the building were made ahead of the G8 summit in June 2013.
