LOCAL ‘horror’ punk band Cadaver Club, have this week been confirmed to perform at the largest independent punk festival in the world.
The band features Fermanagh natives, Mr Crowe on vocals, the brothers Filth, Dirge and Draggle on guitar and drums respectively and Boom Chic Chic on bass.
In brackets, one might add, it’s in order, Kevin McHugh, Phil and Matt Cassidy, and Jolene Phair.
The band released their debut album ‘A Fate Worse Than Life’, funded by fans of the band through a ‘PledgeMusic’ campaign, on October 31 last year.
This week, their slot in the ‘Rebellion Festival’ in Blackpool, was confirmed, as bassist Jolene explained.
“Rebellion is the biggest independent punk festival in the world spanning four days and several stages all under the one roof. Many of our favourite bands have played this festival including Rancid, PiL, Dropkick Murphys and Misfits to name a few – so obviously this is a very exciting time for us all.
“We will also be in the good company of several other Irish bands such as Runnin’ Riot, Paranoid Visions and Stiff Little Fingers,” she added.
The band had an Irish/UK tour last year, and a Dublin gig featured two of the festival’s event organisers in attendance.
“We had a great gig and must have been impressive enough to have made an impact with them. There were whispers of Rebellion on the night of the gig but we got the official call a couple of days ago to confirm our slot at this year’s festival,” Jolene went on.
“We are playing on one of the main stages, Bizarre Bazaar, the home of all the weird and wonderful bands so we should fit right in.”
The band are also gearing up for their second album, and further touring.
Jolene concluded: “The main priority in Cadaver Club is to have fun so we make our plans with that in mind. 2014 will see us releasing some more singles, shooting more videos and doing a lot more gigging.
“We have some unusual gig offers to consider which will definitely bring out the macabre aspects of the band.”
