Derrygonnelly resident, Laurence Speight is hoping to secure a seat as a Green party candidate in Enniskillen – with this, his third time of seeking election. The father-of-one, originally from Belfast, has lived in Fermanagh for close to 20 years.

With 29 year’s service in the police under his belt, Howard stood for election in 2011, but was unable to devote his full efforts and attention to the campaign. He was diagnosed with cancer two weeks after he was announced as a UUP candidate. He achieved 489 first preference votes on that occasion, and is hoping to be elected this time around.

A current councillor, from Lisbellaw, Robert was re-elected in 2011 and will be hoping to retain his seat. He serves on the local government traveller partnership and the Western Education and Library Board.

Having served as a member of Fermanagh District Council in the 90s – Basil was elected to the council in 2011 once more. A farmer from Tamlaght, Basil is one of three UUP candidates hoping for election in Enniskillen.

From Tempo, Patricia Rodgers was previously a member of Fermanagh District Council. She stood again in 2011, however, was unsuccessful. She will be hoping to take an SDLP seat in Enniskillen, which has been vacated by Frank Britton.

Opposing fracking, from Belcoo, Donal will be hoping to return to the council at which he previously sat. As a member of Sinn Fein, he held a seat up until he left in 2009 – and stood unsuccessfully as a socialist in 2011.

Living in Largy, and previously a Sinn Fein councillor, Pat quit Sinn Fein in 2010. He failed to win a seat in 2011, but the self-employed plumber will be hoping to pick up a seat as an independent.
Alliance candidate Ann Gormley

Having served with this party on Omagh District Council for nine years, Ann Gormley was the first female chairman of that council. She is a former pupil of Mount Lourdes Grammar School and a founder member of Women’s Aid.

One of two TUV candidates contesting this year’s election, Donald is a beef farmer. He served in the Uster Defence Regiment and Royal Irish Regiment for 25 years. Donald lives in Lisbellaw, is a member of the loyal orders.

Hoping to pick up the seat vacated by Cyril Brownlee, Shirley is from Church Hill. The former police officer works in Victims and Survivor sector.

Having replaced Alison Brimstone on the council back in February, Keith is a fresh face in politics. He lives in Enniskillen, works in the funeral business and is a part-time firefighter.

A well-known figure in the council, Thomas returned to the council replacing Sean Lynch in 2011. He is a fluent Irish speaker and is a member of the Policing and Community Safety Partnership.

Having been elected onto the council in 2011, current councillor Debbie Coyle is hoping to be re-elected this month. She is a member of Fermanagh Enterprise and the Western Local Adult Saeguarding Partnership.
