JETS Enniskillen Cheerleading Club has made history qualifying to compete in The World Summit held in Florida 2026 for the first time ever.
Majella Beacom chairwoman of the club said, “We are extremely proud, ecstatic and over the moon. It would have been a dream for those girls to compete in the worlds one day. “
The World Summit is one of the biggest cheerleading competitions in the world and will take place in 2026. The team that has been selected goes by the name Storm. They are a level one under 16 group with girls ranging from 11-16.
Ms Beacom said, “I’ve been running Jets for over 21 years and this is the first time a team from the club have won a bid to The World Summit.
“We are only the second team in northern Ireland to compete in this upcoming competition.”
Storm will travel to Orlando with their coaches Paige Beacom, Faith McCann and Lucia Regan. They will perform over two days in hopes of placing amongst the best in the game.
“It’s huge for us our wee team in Fermanagh. If the girls go out and do a routine their happy with that’s all they need to do,” Ms Beacom said.
Jets are the longest running cheerleading club in Ireland, starting originally as a Majorettes club in 1986 by founder Ann Tierney.
In 2002 the club converted to a cheerleading club to be known as Jets Cheerleading. Ann’s two daughters Sarah and Majella (who is now chairwoman) were handed the baton to carry on providing a club that is accessible to all, providing fun, skills and teamwork.
The girls will be jetting off to America for a week in total for this life changing competition but it doesn’t come without cost.
Ms Beacom concluded ,”While we do not yet have an exact cost per athlete, we are actively seeking any available funding or grants to help make this opportunity possible. Any support would be greatly appreciated in helping our athletes achieve their dreams on the international stage.”
