Tempo pupil Darcey is mastering Mandarin

A TEMPO Primary School student has shown that language matters.
Darcey McCutcheon received an award for YCT1 Mandarin Chinese at South West College’s ‘Celebration of Success’ event in Erne Campus recently.
The school’s Mandarin teacher, Mi Zhou, has taught at Tempo PS for the past two years as part of a partnership with South West College, and the pupils have made excellent progress thanks to her tutelage.
Darcey was nominated for the award by Ms Zhou, who could not be prouder of her protégé.
“Darcey has distinguished herself as an exceptional student in Mandarin language studies,” Ms Zhou explained.
“In class, she always focuses on the language knowledge and always raises her hand to answer questions. When it comes to role-play, she always tries her best to practice speaking Mandarin.
“Darcey spared no effort in the ‘Dragon Poster Competition’ and created a remarkable piece. She has endless enthusiasm for Mandarin learning.
“Apart from that, Darcey always brings pleasure to the people around her, which is very impressive. Her perseverance and passion for Mandarin also make her a deserving winner.”
