Kenyan bishop visits Lisnaskea students

THE STUDENTS at St Kevin’s in Lisanakea were honoured to host a very special delegation to the school recently.
The Rt Rev Joseph Mwongela, Bishop of Kitui, Kenya and Fr Jeremiah Munyoki, also from the Diocese of Kitui but currently based in Bundoran, visited the school to meet its Carlo Acutis Faith Group.
The group of over 20 pupils is set to visit the Diocese of Kitui next year, were delighted with the opportunity to meet with Bishop Mwongela and Fr Jeremiah, and to have the chance to share with them details on all the fundraising and faith-building they have been carrying out in St Kevin’s and in the wider community.
“The day was filled with engaging discussions and learning about Kenya from the Bishop and Fr Munyoki,” said a spokesman for St Kevin’s.
“As a special gesture, the group presented Bishop Mwongela with one of their faith group hoodies as a token of appreciation. It was a valuable opportunity to share their work and build connections, and the pupils were grateful for the enriching experience.”
Blessed Carlo Acutis was an English-born Italian man was a well-known gamer and computer programmer, who enjoyed soccer and the Eucharist. He passed away in 2006, at 15 years old.
The St Kevin’s spokesman continued, “The Carlo Acutis Faith Group has been a fantastic addition to St Kevin’s College and has truly embodied the school’s vision of fostering the spiritual and moral development of the school community through charity fundraising, work promoting the faith and particularly spreading the word about Carlo Acutis amongst their fellow students, their parishes, and on social media.”
