LITTLE ELLIE NICHOLL enjoyed an early Christmas present through a dream meeting with the cast of her favourite TV show ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’.
Eight-year-old Ellie who lives with a rare progressive neurological condition known as H-ABC Syndrome, which requires 24 hour treatment met the cast on Friday December 11 in Belfast and even got a tour of the set as the show does an arena tour around the UK.
The family from Cradien, outside Enniskillen were all invited to the SSE Arena to meet the cast, with stars Brendan O’Carroll (Agnes Brown), Jennifer Gibney (Cathy Brown) and Danny O’Carroll (Buster Brady) pulling out all the stops for Ellie. Mum Ciara explained that Ellie, who remains in hospital, got a day out to travel up to Belfast for an unforgettable experience to meet the cast who have become “part of the family”.
“It was great and we got a meet and greet at the back. They were absolutely fantastic, they couldn’t have been any better. Missy loved it, but the only thing was Brendan wasn’t Mrs Brown so she probably couldn’t comprehend who he was, but he was fantastic with her along with Dermot (O’Neill) and the rest of the cast.”
“Buster (Danny O’Carroll) chatted away and certainly made her smile, while Dermot (Paddy Houlihan) and Cathy (Jennifer Gibney) and Brendan (O’Caroll) were over also. And the son Trevor (Martin Delaney) who is the priest. They weren’t like show people at all they were more like people you would meet in the street, they were so friendly and really down to earth. It’s memories and something that she’ll always remember. She’s always loved Mrs Brown and the staff are still talking to her about it a week later. It was a wee wish come true for her to meet Mrs Brown.”
She continued: “Even the wee break just to get her out was just brilliant and we took her out yesterday (Thursday, December 17) to see her wee school play at St Patrick’s Primary School Mullanaskea so she loved it as well.”
Ellie has been in the children’s ward at the South West Hospital now for over eight weeks, but the family are hopeful that at the very least they will little Ellie home on Christmas for the day.
