UPDATE: Enniskillen security alert declared a hoax

The PSNI have sealed off parts of Enniskillen this afternoon (Friday).

East Bridge Street has been closed to traffic and a number of local businesses have been evacuted, amid a security alert.

Inspector Christian Bradley said, “Police are currently in attendance at a security alert in the East Bridge Street area of Enniskillen following a report of a suspicious object.  A number of properties have been evacuated and East Bridge Street and Queen Elizabeth Road have been closed to traffic. There are no further details at this time.”

The Fermanagh Herald understand a call was received after 2pm, reporting that a suspicious package had been found in the area.

Shortly after 4.30pm the road was re-opened to traffic. A police spokesman said:

“The security alert at East Bridge Street Enniskillen has ended. Nothing untoward found. Police have thanked the public for their patience.”
