CHRISTMAS is fast approaching and with the arrival of Santa Claus in Erneside and Christmas lights switch on happening on Saturday night in Enniskillen, businesses are gearing up for their busiest time of the year.
Santa arrived for the first time ever on a Sunday at the Erneside Shopping Centre, with the crowds excited to get a glimpse of the big man.
Jim Masterson, the new manager of Erneside Shopping Centre said, “Certainly it was a great day for the centre, with Sunday being a real family day out. – It was a perfect atmosphere and certainly from a sales point of view it was great to see shoppers coming into the town.”
With the Christmas lights due to be switched on at the weekend, Jim Masterson is hoping for a bumper year of Christmas trade as both the shopping centre and local businesses work in partnership, “What you want is a good relationship between the town and the shops. People can park at Erneside and it is within a close vicinity to the town centre.”
But it would seem Santa has come early for the shopping centre this year with the opening of newly extended Next.
Cara Pharmacy opened this week and JD Sports is expected to open before Christmas.
Jim Masterson added, “It has been a difficult year for all the shops in Enniskillen with the Euro rate but hopefully with opening of Next, Cara and JD Sports the town will benefit overall.
“Enniskillen is unique, as the people are friendly and we all work together. People understand the bigger picture that if something isn’t in Erneside they are pointed to local businesses in the town and vice versa.”
