ENNISKILLEN is due to stand in solidarity with the victims and those affected by the weekend’s tragic scenes in Paris, as a inter-denominational prayer vigil is to be held on Friday night.
With social media awash with #prayforparis posts and messages of sympathy towards the attacks, local churches will now join together in unity.
It is hoped Friday night’s prayer vigil will mirror similar scenes from across the world where prayer vigils have been organised to remember those who were affected by Friday nights attacks.
Dean Kenneth Hall, a spokesperson for churches in Enniskillen who are organising the event, said, “We are holding a short prayer vigil in the Diamond at 6pm on Friday to give an opportunity for people to pause in solidarity with the city of Paris and the people of France at this time of trauma.
“This is inter denominational and we would invite all clergy from the area to join the platform and stand united together to pray.”
The prayer vigil is expected to last 30 minutes and will take place this Friday November 20, at 6pm in the Diamond, Enniskillen.
At a special, scheduled Council Meeting on Tuesday evening, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council considered the most appropriate response to the attacks in Paris last weekend, and a letter will be sent from the Chairman to the Mayor of Paris, expressing the sympathy of the people of the Fermanagh and Omagh district, and their solidarity with the people of Paris and France.
