It is understood that Enniskillen Courthouse is now one of two courthouses to be saved in the Justice Minister’s budget cuts.
Minister David Ford announced back in April that he was planning to axe eight courthouses because of cuts in his budget.
It’s now understood Enniskillen and Newtownards will be retained, following consultations.
The six courthouses earmarked for closure, are Lisburn, Armagh, Strabane, Ballymena, Limavady and Magherafelt.
Staff in most of the courthouses are understood to have been told on Monday.
The closures are part of radical measures proposed by the justice minister to save money and centralise the service.
The justice committee meets on Thursday and it’s expected the decision will be officially announced then.
