THIS week, detectives investigating a serious assault on the outskirts of Enniskillen, have appealed to witnesses to come forward.
A man was assaulted in the Willoughby Place area by two or more assailants on Monday, August 31st with police issuing a new appeal for information this week.
According to a PSNI spokesman, he sustained serious head injuries as a result of being punched and kicked repeatedly. Police believe his assailants made off countrywards in a car.
The incident does not appear to have been publicised at the time, but the PSNI declined to say whether this belated appeal is connected to a concern for the victim’s health.
The PSNI spokesman said this week, when asked why now the incident had come up, said: “The officer just wants witnesses to come forward.”
That appeal has been reinforced by Inspector Roy Robinson.
He said acknowledged that the assault happened ‘some time ago’, on Monday August 31st.
He went on: “However, as part of our ongoing enquiries, we are now seeking help from the public.
If you can help, please call 101. Alternatively information about crime can be passed via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.”
Meanwhile, police are appealing for information into an assault on a woman by two men in the Coalhill Road area of Brookeborough in the early hours of Saturday, 12 September.
A PSNI spokesman said the woman, who is in her early 50s, was assaulted at approximately 2.40am.
“She required hospital treatment for her injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.”
Constable Maurice Blair, who is leading the investigation, said appealed to anyone with any information about the incident to contact Lisnaskea Police Station on 101.
Alternative, information can be given to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
