Music Focus: Stellar line-up at Bundoran festival

NOW IN its eighth year, Bundoran’s ‘Sea Sessions’ returns with a strong line-up in June.

Popular among Fermanagh music fans, the festival has gone from strength to strength in recent years.

Running from Friday June 19 until the following Sunday, June 21, festival organisers have brought together a plethora of acts.

The Riptide Movement, Black Grape, Interskalactic, Little Hours, The Whereabouts, The Winters and Half Of Me are set to join other acts including Seasick Steve, Example and DJ Wire, Maverick Sabre, Sigma, Le Galaxie, Klingande, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Gavin James, Jape, Krystal Klear, Kormacs Big Band, The Minutes, Alex Adair, R.S.A.G, DJ Food, Wyvern Lingo, The Academic, Amazing Apples, The Eskies, New Valley Wolves, Columbia Mills, 5 Dollar Shakes, Rollin’ Empire, Anthony Collins, and DJ Ferg.

Some of the acts that have previously played Sea Sessions include, Paul Weller, Bastille, Kaiser Chiefs, Kelis, The Coronas, The Happy Mondays, Ziggy Marley, Fat Freddy’s Drop and The Dandy Warhols.

More than just a music festival, Sea Sessions is set in Ireland’s surf capital, Bundoran with surf competitions, beach sports and all the facilities of Bundoran on your doorstep alongside unspoiled beaches.

Martina Bromley, head of operations of Failte Ireland in the NorthWest explained: “Sea Sessions is a huge boost to North West Tourism and a major highlight in the Irish Festival Calendar. The event has not only an appeal to the domestic tourist industry but also has a major international appeal.”

Ray O’Donoghue, festival director, added: “We’re thrilled with the latest announcement. The Riptide Movement are one of the hottest live acts out there and Shaun Ryder’s Black Grape have a 20th anniversary tour happening. This will be his second time at Sea Sessions. Alongside all the great upcoming Irish acts we reckon this is the best Sea Sessions line-up yet.”
