Enniskillen Collegiate 14
Victoria College, Belfast 4
Enniskillen Collegiate maintained their incredible record in the Danske Bank Girls Schools Cup with a sixth victory in nine years.
They beat Victoria College by ten tries in the final at Kingspan Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Ireland Six Nations winners Nora Stapleton and Sophie Spence watched on as the Fermanagh girls registered an impressive sixth title in nine years, but they were made to work hard by the well-drilled Belfast side.
It was a bright, blustery day at Ravenhill and the Enniskillen side started with the wind at their back. The Collegiate girls pressed hard in first two minutes creating space for captain Kathryn Dane for the opening try after three minutes.
That score laid down the marker and Dane went on to be the star of the show, touching down four times and having a hand in several other tries. The remaining Enniskillen scores came from Alice Hurst, Rebecca Pennell (2), Maeve Somerville, Claire Boles (3), Emma Shaw (2) and Sophie Coalter.
Victoria enjoyed some 60 percent of possession, but they couldn’t contain Enniskillen’s expansive game and penetrating runs.
After the match they were presented with the trophy by Danske Bank’s Mark Beattie.
