It’s music all the way at Ardhowen

Jimmy Buckley Ardhowen

The highly regarded but very humble Irish singing artist Jimmy Buckley returns on Thursday 27th, the legendary Harlem Gospel Choir perform contemporary gospel with a touch of jazz and blues on Friday 28th November and ‘Grease’ is the word for Enniskillen Light Operatic’s annual musical, opening on Thursday 4th December.

JIMMY BUCKLEY IN CONCERT

On Thursday 27th November at 8pm we welcome back one of Ireland’s top entertainers, Jimmy Buckley. Jimmy’s massive hit song ‘Your Wedding Day’, written by Henry McMahon, conquered the Irish music scene and he continues to make his mark on the concert scene across the British Isles.

Jimmy will be performing songs from his new album ‘The Essential Collection – From Here To The Moon And Back’ on Dolphin Records. The album features ‘From Here To The Moon and Back’, a duet with daughter Claudia, ‘Your Wedding Day’, ‘Farewell Party’, ‘Hello Trouble’, ‘The Grand Tour’ a duet with George Jones, ‘Danny Boy’ plus many more. Jimmy looks forward to meeting old friends and new on his current tour.

Having had the honour of performing with George Jones in Nashville and in the Massive UTV Country Fest and also with Charlie Pride on his Irish Tours, both Charlie and George were astounded by Jimmy’s vocal talents and were very complementary in their praise for this quiet entertainer.

HARLEM GOSPEL CHOIR

Formed in 1988 the world famous Harlem Gospel Choir draws its core singers from various black churches in the Harlem community, who share the common aim of bringing about a better understanding of African/American culture. Their songs of inspiration touch the depths of the soul and raise spirits to angelic heights. The Choir devotes its time to spreading the joy of faith throughout the world. The Harlem Gospel Choir will be supported by the Mount Lourdes School choir in a sell-out concert on Friday 28th November at 8pm.

GREASE

Following the success of recent productions ‘Anything Goes’ and ‘Annie Get Your Gun’, this year Enniskillen Light Operatic turn their hands to something a little different presenting the No.1 hit musical, ‘Grease’.

Written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, ‘Grease’ tells the story of wholesome good girl Sandy and reckless renegade Danny who fall in love over the summer and never expect to see each other again. But when they discover that they’re now both attending Rydell High, will their romance be rekindled? The T-Birds and Pink Ladies might have something to say about that!

‘Grease’ guarantees to be a night of 50s fun and frolics, and is sure to have you dancing in the aisles to familiar tunes like ‘Summer Lovin’, ‘Greased Lightning’ and ‘You’re The One That I Want!’. The company has been hard at work mastering the hand jive and burnin’ down the quarter mile with their electrifyin’ dance moves!

Evening performances at 8pm take place from Thursday 4th to Saturday 6th December and Monday 8th to Saturday 13th December and the matinee performance on Saturday 6th December is at 3pm. At the time of going to press just a few seats remain.

ANDREA BEGLEY

With an inspiring attitude and self belief Andrea Begley has overcome every obstacle life has thrown at her. Her book ‘I Didn’t See It Coming’ tells the remarkable story of how this young, visually impaired, Pomeroy woman with the angelic voice defied the odds to win the top BBC talent show, the Voice UK, in 2013 with Danny O’Donaghue of The Script acting as her mentor.

Among Andrea’s other achievements are; Grade A in three A-Levels, including the third highest score for politics in Northern Ireland; becoming the first blind law student at Queen’s University and white-water rafting in Peru in 2010!

Ardhowen is delighted to welcome Andrea Begley to the stage on Wednesday 17th December at 8pm when she will be performing tracks from her first album ‘The Message’ which reached No. 7 in the UK charts last year as well as some of the Irish traditional music that has influenced her as a singer from a young age. Andrea comes from a strong musical heritage with her aunt being Country legend Philomena Begley. Andrea has never allowed her serious sight problems to get in the way of making her dreams come true.
