The Valley 2ndXV emulate their 1stXV with a win at the Cran in their opening match of the season. The game started with Rainey controlling the play and driving into the Valley 22 meter area.
With the first game of the any season, match rustiness contributed to a great deal of mistakes from both sides and the attack faltered with a number of knock-ons.

The Valley capitalised on these mistakes and with some fantastic drives from forwards Keys and Trimble the home side got to with 15 meters of the Rainey try line.
Trimble to a short pass and drove two Rainey defenders over the line and touched down to score the opening try of the season for the 2nds, converted by Baxter.
Rainey replied with a penalty to make the score 7-3 to the home side.
Despite being under pressure for most of the 1st half, the Valley looked dangerous on the break.
The Valley broke deep from their own half, with a surging run from outhalf Baxter, linking up with Keys, Trimble took over the running then popped the ball to the ever supporting Greaves who scored under the posts, converted by Baxter. Valley led at the interval 14-3.

With some positioning changes, Trotter took over the number 9 jersey with Smyton slotting into the front row.
The home side continued to dominated the scrums and lineouts. Rainey came back with a score in the corner to reduce the deficit in the scoreline to 14-8.
The Valley then hit back with a score of their own from a Rainey lineout in the opposition 22, Trimble stole the ball, passed to Trienier who scored Valley’s 3rd try.
As the game drew to the close, the Valley was awarded a penalty deep in the Rainey half.
Quick thinking by centre Hamilton, who took a quick tap and drove over to score Valley’s 4th try.
