Choral society tune up for annual concert

Fermanagh Choral Society

The Fermanagh Choral Society annual spring concert will be a performance of the Mozart Requiem together with the Orchestra of the Western Sinfonia conducted by Don Swain in St Michael’s Church Enniskillen at 8pm

FERMANAGH Choral Society’s annual spring concert this year will be a performance of the very popular Mozart Requiem.

Donald Swain, the Musical Director, will be conducting the choir along with the Orchestra of the Western Sinfonia, which has supported the Choral Society on many previous occasions.

There are currently over 60 singers in the choir who have been thoroughly enjoying the inspiring music at their rehearsals and are now looking forward to singing the piece with the orchestral accompaniment.

The Baritone soloist for the Requiem will be Enniskillen singing teacher, David Robertson and the Soprano soloist is Gerarda McCann from Drumquin.

The Society are delighted to have two NI Opera Young Artists as the Tenor and Mezzo-soprano soloists, Richard Shaffrey from Dublin and Belfast-born Sarah Richmond.

All four soloists will perform individual pieces in the concert as well as singing in the Requiem.

There will also be additional pieces from the Western Sinfonia and the Choral Society, including the beautiful Cantique de Jean Racine by Faure.

The event has been generously supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland National Lottery Funding along with ongoing support from Fermanagh District Council.

The concert will be held on Sunday April 13 at 8pm in St. Michael’s Church, Enniskillen.

Tickets which are £8 (concessions £5, school children free) can be obtained from the Fermanagh Visitor Information Centre or purchased at the door.
