LAST weekend the annual Comhaltas celebrations take centre stage in Newtownbutler.
The weekend festival of traditional Irish music, song and dance ran from Friday, February 7 through to Sunday, February 9.
It opened with a concert in St Mary’s Parish Hall where there will be a special performance from All-Ireland senior champion in button accordion Christopher Maguire. Entry is £5.
Throughout the course of the weekend there will be a variety of Irish styled entertainment including on the Saturday when there will be workshops in St Mary’s Primary School.
The festival concluded on the Sunday with a Comhaltas Mass in St Mary’s Church, followed by a ‘Comhaltas through the years’ photo exhibition in the community centre.
Then there was a mini concert featuring former All-Ireland champion Darren Breslin and Gerry McMahon.
