‘One hand on trophy’ as super Anthony soars through

COUNTRY ROADS...Anthony McBrien

COUNTRY ROADS…Anthony McBrien

COUNTRY singer Anthony McBrien soared through to the next round of Glor Tire on Wednesday past.

In fact, judge John Creedon told him that he had one hand on the trophy.

The TG4 show searches for a new country star, and with all nine contestants competing, and two leaving the competition, Anthony was happy not to face the chop.

“I was nervous to tell you the truth, but then my name was called out and I was delighted,” he said.

Anthony travelled down to Galway to perform on the show, singing the classic Keith Whitley song ‘Don’t close your eyes’.

“I now travel to Galway for tonight, where five acts go through,” he continued.

“I’m singing an original called, ‘Mama’s Radio’, that I wrote about eight months ago that’ll be on my new album that’s being released in May.”

Anthony went on: “I’m looking forward to it – I got to know all the contestants very well on and got some great comments from the judges.

“And I would appreciate any votes I can get.”

Anthony will be singing for his survival in Glor Tire tomorrow, Wednesday April 3, at 10.30pm.
