The Drama Department at Enniskillen Royal Grammar School are showcasing their production of William Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’ at the Cooper Crescent Assembly Hall at 7pm this Thursday night, 24th November.
The student production, directed by Sally Rees, was recently presented as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival at the Ardhowen Theatre.
Ms Rees explained: “Getting involved in the Shakespeare Schools festival was a brilliant opportunity for students to not only engage with the words of the Bard, but also work together in the spirit of creative endeavour and perform on a professional stage, alongside other schools from Fermanagh. The performance in the Ardhowen was a sell out, meaning some people missed out and we wanted to give a wider audience a chance to see it.”
Twelfth Night is a map cap tale of twins separated at sea, unrequited love and mistaken identity, involving a cast and crew of over 30 students from across Year 10, 11, 13 and 14. Setting the play in a ‘Gangstas Paradise’, the performance is underscored by music developed by Rose Connolly, a Y13 student studying AS Performing Arts, ably assisted by Year 10 students, Ruth Beadle, Rebecca Dickson and Calum Smith and fellow Year 13 student Odhran Mahon. One castmember said: “It was so much fun and I can’t wait to have a chance to perform it again.”
Don’t miss your chance to see this 30-minute version of Twelfth Night this week. Tickets are available in advance from the school reception at both Loughshore and Cooper Crescent, priced at £5 for adults and £2.50 for students. Tickets will also be available on the door on the night. Everyone welcome.
