A KESH man has been fined and disqualified for one year after being detected drink driving.
James Muldoon (58) of Ardess Demesne, appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to a single charge of driving with excess alcohol.
At around 7.10pm on May 15 police received a report from Muldoon’s ex-partner that he had driven on to and from her home after drinking, via the Pettigo Road.
Police attended Muldoon’s home and noted the tyres of his car were still warm. He was arrested and when brought to Strabane Police Station he returned an evidential reading of 66 micrograms per 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.
Defence barrister Brian O’Sullivan noted Muldoon had cooperated fully with police.
The barrister told the court Muldoon suffered from ill health and had received a significant diagnosis on the day of the incident. He added that, without his licence, it was going to cost the defendant £70 per round-trip to Omagh for health care.
District Judge Austin Kennedy fined Muldoon £400 and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
