Inquest opens into death of Enniskillen woman

AN INQUEST has opened into the death of an Enniskillen woman in a house fire in England.

Eighty-seven-year-old Annie Teresa Mitchell (nee McMulkin) was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire at her home in King’s Avenue, Christchurch, Dorset in September 2023.

At the time a man, who was reportedly known to Mrs Mitchell, was arrested on suspicion of murder but was later released under investigation.

According to the Bournemouth Echo, Dorset Police has said there is no update at the moment but that man remains under investigation and enquiries are ongoing.

Mrs Mitchell’s inquest opened in at Bournemouth Town Hall last week, with coroner’s officer Matt Cave telling Dorest Coroner’s Court that Annie had been born in March 23, 1936 in Enniskillen.

The court also heard Mrs Mitchell was a housewife and had been married to Terence Mitchell, a retired oil rig operator.

Coroner Racheal Griffin adjourned the inquest until December 10 this year.
