AN Enniskillen man who is due to get married in the coming weeks has been told he is not providing his young child with a good example after being arrested for disorderly behaviour.
Gary Phillip (26) of Coleshill Crescent pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday, after the incident on Lisnaskea on July 3 when he was observed standing topless on the Main Street shouting at a man and a woman.
Phillip, who was heard shouting “what the f**k are you looking at” and shouted “f**king slut” at the woman, told police “go on, arrest me” when they approached him.
He was arrested for disorderly behaviour and, while on their way to the police station, Phillip became aggressive in the patrol car.
Defence solicitor Myles McManus said Phillip, who has a young son, is due to be married on August 10 and said his fiancee was in court to support him despite what his behaviour on the night in question. He said Phillip wished to apologise to the officers involved and the court.
Mr McManus said Phillip had a previous record, but nothing in recent times, and said a prior incident a few years ago for which he spent a week in prison on remand had been “an eye-opener.” He said the recent incident in Lisnaskea was a one-off and out of character.
District Judge Nigel Broderick told Phillip he was not acting as a good example to his son, and added he hoped he would not reoffend. He fined Phillip £150 and gave him 20 weeks to pay.
