Trillick man threatened to shoot police

A 34-year-old man, who threatened to shoot police officers and blow their brains out, appeared before Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday. 
Hugh John Elliott, of Main Street, Trillick, was charged with disorderly behaviour and two counts of resisting police. 
Police officers were called to Forthill Street, Enniskillen at 7.30pm on February 28th last following reports that a drunk male had fallen. They found that Elliott had removed his jacket and was squaring up to a male in the street. When asked to calm down, he told officers to “f*** off” and “I’ll shoot you in the head”. Later while in cusody after beibg arrested, he said to police: “I’ll blow your brains out”.  
District Judge Nigel Broderick heard that Elliott had been “the worse for alcohol and was unfit to be interviewed by police until the following day”. He told them that he had been drinking in an Enniskillen pub and didn’t remember the incident. Describing Elliott’s behaviour as “totally disgraceful”, the judge imposed a five month sentence, suspended for two years.
