FERMANAGH’S Darkest Era are coming to the close of their first headline UK and Ireland tour.
The celtic metal band, who released their second full length album ‘Severence’ during the summer, have played a succession of dates over the past few weeks – culminating in a London show tonight (Wednesday).
The tour is in support of their latest album released in June.
The band, which features ‘Krum’ Maguire on vocals, Ade Mulgrew on guitar, Sarah Wieghell on guitar, Daniel O’Toole on bass, and Cameron Ahslund-Glass, on drums, previously released ‘The Last Caress of Light’, in 2011.
Throughout last year, 2013, there were two line up changes: Bassist David Linsday and drummer Lisa Howe left the band and were replaced. Lisa’s drum parts were recorded prior to her departure and remain on the album. The new album was recorded last year in Kerry with Chris Fielding, who also produced the band’s debut album.
The tour began on September 25 in Birmingham and has included dates in Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Sheffield, Bristol and London is tonight
Speaking while on tour, bassist Daniel, from Enniskillen, explained: “We’ve just finished up the second show of the tour in Manchester, heading to Glasgow in the morning and so far the tour’s been great fun.
“We’ve been playing with Ancient Ascendant and Farseer so far and they’re both great.”
He added that because it’s their first headline tour it’s hard work: “You’re playing small stages to small crowds, but it’s still great fun.”
And on tonight’s show in London, he added: “I think London is going to be an awesome show too, but at the minute we’re just taking every night as it comes and enjoying the experience.”
