Black pudding festival comes to a close

Black Pudding festival

THE SECOND Fermanagh Black Pudding Festival has come to a close.

The cookery competition was open to everyone to enter and included around 140 with contestants asked to submit an original recipe using black pudding.

The festival was created by Pat O’Doherty of O’Doherty’s Fine Meats, Enniskillen.

The top ten entries were selected to submit their finished dish which were then judged by executive chef from Belle Isle Cookery school, Joe Kelly, who was assisted by members of the festival committee.

The overall wining entry came from Robert and Ally Bruce, Enniskillen.  A close second came in the form of Benn Whyte from South West College and the Enniskillen Hotel. Joint third was Ian Staunton, South West College and Carina Johnston, Jolly Sandwich. Eileen Burns came in fourth place.

The overall winner of the Black Pudding festival business award went to the Jolly Sandwich, Enniskillen, who ‘embraced the fun element of the festival with a great array of black pudding foods including black pudding pizza, stuffed peppers and black pudding potato and apple dishes.
