ENNISKILLEN ACTOR Johnny Moorhead has described his involvement at this year’s Commonwealth Games as ‘an incredible experience’.
The 19 year-old was selected to take part in the Commonwealth Culture 2014 programme.
The actor attends Nitty Gritty Theatre Company and joined eighteen other young people aged 16-25 where they represented Northern Ireland.
The young people will form the International Performing Company, part of the National Theatre of Scotland’s The Tin Forest festival, together with ninety other young people from all over the Commonwealth, including Jamaica, India, Malta and New Zealand.
The International Performing Company brought the streets of Glasgow to life with a series of pop-art and travelling performance pieces from Monday 21 to Wednesday July 23.
Johnny told the Fermanagh Herald: “Everyone was so welcoming from First Minister Alex Salmond to the hard working public of Glasgow.
“You could feel the excitement in the streets as the Commonwealth Games drew closer and closer.
“We were performing drama in the streets to build up excitement. I can honestly say the public reactions to our work were phenomenal.”
Johnny added: “To watch as it (Glasgow) flourishes into a city that can show off its true culture and pride is immensely inspiring and its something that I believe we all can take a lesson from.”
