Huge turnout for launch of John’s Follom history book

ALL roads led to Aghadrumsee recently, as the family, friends and dear neighbours of the late John Mohan gathered to launch his long-awaited local history book.

Over 350 people turned out for the launch of the long-awaited ‘All Roads Lead to Mohan’s of Follom: The Life and times of a Country Shop 140 years in Business,’ with the event taking place following John’s months mind Mass.

The book had been a long labour of love by John, editor Dermot Maguire, Veronia O’Reilly and others, who spent over a decade working on gathering countless stories and photographs, both happy and sad, all centred around the Mohan family shop that first opened in the 1880s.

John, who passed away from a long illness just days before the book was due to be launched last month at the age of 88, told the ‘Herald in February that he felt the need write the book as “there was just too much history to be lost.”

Those who were unable to make the launch can still pick up the book, which is now on sale in local shops and businesses in the Aghadrumsee, Roslea, Clones, Newtownbutler, and Lisnaskea areas.

All proceeds will go towards the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Marie Curie nurses.
