Roaring success for young Fermanagh performers

TICKETS went like ‘greased lightning’ for the Fermanagh School of Music and Performing Arts’ rendition of Grease Young@Part.
The four shows took place daily from the 17th to the 20th of July at the Ardhowen Theatre and audiences enjoyed a heart-warming performance with laughter and several musical numbers.
Set in the 1950’s, the show follows the story of Danny Zuko (Jack Donnelly) and Sandy Dombrowski
(Aoife Owens) who tries to rekindle their summer romance, whilst overcoming challenges such as peer-pressure, upon their return to high school.
“Grease Young@Part, from Theatrical Rights Worldwide, is based on the original 1978 film, Grease,” founder of the group Ciara O’Flanagan told the Herald. “The group consists of 62 members, between the ages of 5 to 15.”
Director Ciara O’Flanagan explained that the stage musical, ‘Grease Young@Part’ had been tailored for younger audiences but had been entertaining for all ages.
“The actors are from Fermanagh, and we have a combination of classes from Lisnaskea and Enniskillen coming together, both at primary school ages and secondary school ages playing leading roles,” she explained.
The performance featured acting, singing and dancing to well-known songs from ‘Grease’ the film which audiences were familiar with.
When asked about the inspiration for choosing Grease Young@Part for their performance, Ciara replied, “We chose Grease Young@Part as it features big ensemble pieces, meaning that there is no limit to the number of actors that can be involved, and all children are included.”
